3 weeks already

September 13, 2009 at 5:08 pm (Uncategorized)

So Maddie is officially three weeks old already. Where has the time gone? Most of our days go like this, get up, change baby, feed baby, baby naps, change baby, feed baby, baby naps and so on until it is time for bed at night. We have been pretty lucky. Maddie has been sleeping anywhere from 4 to 7 hours a night. It falls at weird times but we will take all the rest we can get at night. We had our two week doctor’s appointment this past Wednesday. It was really nice our doctor’s office and our insurance offers a home visit for this first appointment. It was nice to not have to lug all her stuff to the doctor’s office. The doc said she is growing perfectly. She grew a whole inch and gained just over a pound since we brought her home. She is now a whopping 8 whole pounds and 21.5 inches long. She is always eager to eat, so we know she will just continue to grow, which is good stuff. I have included some new picts of our precious one. We just can’t get enough of her. She is fantastic and sweet and a very good little lady!

Daddy telling Maddie all about it.

Daddy telling Maddie all about it.

Madeline Jodie Christensen made her debut at 3:38pm on Saturday, August 22, 2009. She weighed 7lbs. 4oz and was 20.5″ long. We are totally in love with her and are enjoying our first few days with her at home. She has her days and nights mixed up so we spend most of night night up with her and most of the day snoozing with her. We need to work on that for sure! I have included some photos of her birth, her hospital stay, her trip home and her first bath. Stay tuned as we explore this journey into parenthood and keep you updated on our little Maddie’s progress.  Thanks to all the well wishers. We really appreciate all the good wishes and feedback we are getting from everyone!

One striped wall…

August 6, 2009 at 2:53 pm (Uncategorized)

Eric and I learned something very important a few weeks back when I had this hair-brained idea to put vertical stripes in the nursery. When we moved in the room was the dark green color, which I totally loved because green is my favorite color. I wanted to add a little interest to the walls by adding vertical stripes on the wall with the crib. So I chose a lighter green color. We left three walls the dark green, painted one the light green and added stripes of the light green to one dark green wall.

Eric and I painstakingly measured the walls and used a laser level to put down the stripes in painter’s tape. We were extremely proud of ourselves and where ready to paint the stripes. After the coverage was completed we excitedly removed the tape and much to our dismay we learned our valuable house decorating tip for the month. PAINTER’S TAPE DOES NOT KEEP THE PAINT FROM SEEPING THROUGH ON A TEXTURED WALL! So needless to stay for the next three nights, I used a small art brush and went back over each edge of each line to fill in the spots and to straighten out the lines. It took about 6 hours.

All I have to say is thank God I didn’t have the idea to paint stripes on all 4 walls. I think Eric might have killed me! All we have left to do in the nursery is add our wall hangings and then add baby.

We’re going for our 37.5 week appointment tonight, so hopefully we will find out that everything is continuing to progress and baby will be here happy and healthy in the next two weeks or so!

ks or so!

4-D Ultrasound images

June 23, 2009 at 5:56 pm (Uncategorized)

Okay, so you have to use your imagination in some of them, kind of like finding images in the clouds, but is is pretty amazing that they can capture her little face. First she started out with her feet in her face so I had to move around a lot to convince her to get them out of the way. Maybe she is going to be a gymnast? She was pretty sleepy at 11 am and seems to be a lot more active in the evening, kind of like me. In a couple of them you can see her left hand up by her face. Not sure who she looks like just yet.

30 weeks and hanging in there

June 18, 2009 at 3:25 pm (Uncategorized)

I just went for my 30 week appointment. I get to go every two weeks for my appointments now until I am 9 months and then I get to go every two weeks. It’s nice to get a check-up more often now, but they literally take 5 minutes. The doctor comes in. Asks how I am feeling, listens to the heartbeat and then measures my stomach and then I am on my way.

I feel like I am finally getting a decent belly now.  Not just looking like I had one too many ice cream cones. The baby is pretty active and especially wiggly when I lay back. I think it gives her more room to move around then when I am sitting. She likes to kick me in my right rib which is not so pleasant but I am able to feel what I think is a foot in that area right after the kick which is kind of cool and bizzare all at the same time.

Eric and I have decided to get one of those 4-D ultrasounds this weekend, so stay tuned for photo uploads. We are anxious to see her little face!

28 weeks and counting…

June 18, 2009 at 3:14 pm (Uncategorized)

The doctor recommended that we have another ultrasound to check on the placenta. The good news is that the placenta has moved up enough and will continue to move up as the baby grows. If the placenta did not move away from my cervix by week 36 I would be looking at the possibility of pre-term labor and most likely a c-section. Baby was facing down already. Maybe she will come early? Don’t think I would be that lucky. She will probably come when I am already 42 weeks pregnant. If she’s stubborn like her mom that will most likely be the case!

Girl

June 12, 2009 at 2:34 pm (Uncategorized)

We went for a 24 week ultrasound to double check a low-lying placenta. It was nice to get another shot at figuring out what we were having. After many attempts the technician said she was 85% certain it was a little girl. She was able to almost solidly confirm girl parts. So we know and are able to start planning. Thank goodness!

It’s a …

June 4, 2009 at 2:35 pm (Uncategorized)

Eric and I went for our 20 week ultrasound. We were anxiously awaiting the “It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl”, but much to our dismay our little one is very modest and had it’s legs closed tighter than Fort Knox. The ultrasound technician commented on how active the baby was and how every time she would locate something for a measurement or a photo the peanut would move. Hopefully this sign of independence is not a pre-cursor to what is coming! God help us.

Anyways, because a few of the measurements could not be made we will go back the first week of May to take another look and then maybe we will hear those words…It’s a…
